Alex and Miranda met on an old school blind date.

Miranda had a friend from art school ask her to attend a ticketed art opening of theirs, and then found out a week beforehand that they'd worked on the project in partnership with Miranda’s ex-boyfriend. So, in desperate need of some arm candy to show up with for this increasingly awful sounding evening, Miranda reached out to one of her girlfriends who had suggested a potential match a few months prior. Miranda texted Alex and they arranged to meet for coffee; when she walked into the coffee shop her first thought was "oh NO, he's hot!” … and then she proceeded to talk his ear off for an hour and a half until the coffee shop closed, and he agreed to come to the opening.

The gallery opening itself was a disaster of a first date - art pieces falling over, nobody was dancing to the music, and Miranda had a tension headache so bad she was totally done by 10 pm, turning down Alex's invite to try a party at his friend's place that same night - but the second date went great, the third was even better, and they've been together ever since.
